In line with the national role of Alexandria Shipyard in supporting the national economy and the shipbuilding and repair industry in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the company, in fruitful cooperation with Alexandria Port Authority, has just delivered the powerful 70-ton tugboat “Darwish” to Alexandria Port Authority on Monday, June 26, 2023. The ceremony was attended by Rear Admiral Nihad Shahin, Head of Alexandria Port Authority, Rear Admiral Hossam El-Din Ezzat Ahmed Kotb, Chairman of Alexandria Shipyard, Rear Admiral Ayman Raafat Tarabis, Vice Chairman of Alexandria Shipyard, Captain Mohamed Safwat, Head of Central Administration for Operations, Rear Admiral Emad El-Naggar, Head of Central Administration for Technical and Maritime Services, and Rear Admiral Amr Abdel-Razik, General Manager of Public Relations, in addition to a high-level delegation from Alexandria Port Authority and  the admistration, engineers and technicians of Alexandria Shipyard. It’s also worth mentioning that the tugboat “Darwish” is the first tugboat to be delivered out of a total of four tugboats being constructed at Alexandria Shipyard. It is planned to deliver the remaining tugboats by the end of the this year, 2023, to Alexandria Port Authority. Alexandria Shipyard is also preparing to launch the first ASD (Azimus Stern Drive) model of tugboats with a towing capacity of 85 tons bollard pull, which is being built in collaboration with Robert Allan Ltd., the international design office based in Canada. Alexandria Shipyard aims to expand the utilization of this tugboat model within the Egyptian ports, given its powerful performance, high maneuverability and stability. Additionally, the competitive price gives this model a powerful edge with a significant saving exceeding 100 million LE per unit, less than other tugboats in this category. Furthermore, Alexandria Shipyard aims to penetrate international markets with this tugboat, in order to enhance the country’s export capabilities and increase foreign currency income as a primary objective in the upcoming phase as we aspire to continuous progress and enduring success, elevating our beloved company and our beloved nation, Egypt.
