Alexandria Shipyard welcomed the invitation extended by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AAST) to attend a distinguished workshop held at the headquarters of the League of Arab States. The delegation from Alexandria Shipyard, led by Rear Admiral. Hossam Kotb, Chairman of Alexandria Shipyard Company, participated in the workshop alongside Rear Admiral. Ehab Sobhi, the General Manager of the Marine Industries and Services Organization (MIASO).
The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar, President of the Arab Academy, on Monday, February 5, 2024. It was organized by the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AAST) in collaboration with the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC).
The purpose of the workshop was to discuss and present proposals for the establishment of an Arab mechanism and database to support shipbuilding and ship repair industries in Arab countries.
R. Admiral. Hossam Kotb presented Alexandria Shipyard’s perspective on activating cooperative mechanisms among Arab countries in shipbuilding and repair industries, along with proposals to overcome challenges in this vital sector within the Arab world.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Bahgat Abu El-Nasr, Director of the Transportation and Tourism Department at the Arab League Secretariat, and Dr. Hassan Abdullah, representing the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation, among others. Representatives from 16 Arab countries, as well as officials from maritime industries, the Suez Canal Authority, and relevant Egyptian and Arab federations, participated in the event. Dr. Sarah El-Gazzar, Dean of the International Transport and Logistics College in Alexandria, and the head of the study team, along with Eng. Hala El-Sharidy, CEO of Integrated Solutions Company, also contributed to the discussions.
