Installation of 80 ton main gantry for Maridive 602 unit

In line with R.Admiral / Hossam El-Din Ezzat Kotb’s commitment, as Chairman of Alexandria Shipyard, to continue his support the success of marine services carried out by units belonging to the shipyard’s oil and gas clients, thus he entrusted the Maridive 602 Supply vessel project to the ship repair sector. This project stands as the first of its kind in shipyards in the Middle East, as the operation was originally scheduled for execution in either Malta or Turkey. However, thanks to his efforts, the project was successfully carried out at Alexandria Shipyard.

During July and August 2024, the ship repair sector has completed the required modifications to the structural components of the Maridive 602 Supply vessel, conducting the following scope of work:

* Installation of support structures to stabilize the main Liebherr crane (BOS 4200-60 Diesel LIT) with an 80 ton capacity.
* Construction, lifting, and securing of the main boom loading platform.
* Installation of the Anti-Heeling Pump along with its complete line system, making the necessary adjustments to the attached lines.
* Manufacturing, machining, and securing of a coupling for one of the propeller shafts, as the new replacement could not be provided within the given time frame.

All modifications were carried out under the full supervision of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Classification Society, with successful testing of the crane system in the presence of the manufacturer (OEM).

It is worth mentioning that during July 2024, the ship repair sector also contributed to the successful lifting and installation of the cable and marine pipeline laying system on the “MAYO” vessel, owned by Petroleum Marine Services (PMS).
