Alexandria Shipyard Celebrates the Official Entery into Service of Egypt’s First Domestically Built Marine Ambulance Boat

Today, Alexandria Shipyard proudly celebrates the successful and official entery into service of the first marine ambulance boat ever built in Egypt, a milestone achievement in the country’s shipbuilding and emergency response capabilities.
During his visit to Alexandria, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by senior officials, praised the high standards of construction and quality of the newly built ambulance boat, which was entirely manufactured at Alexandria Shipyard. This vessel marks the first of its kind to be developed locally and to enter service with the Egyptian Ambulance Authority.
Constructed to the highest technical and medical standards, the marine ambulance is equipped with advanced emergency systems and modern life-saving technologies. It represents a pioneering step in Egypt’s efforts to enhance its maritime medical infrastructure. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the state’s commitment to raising the standard of public services, especially in the health sector, and noted that introducing this boat into service today in Alexandria reflects the ongoing efforts to improve ambulance services and to ensure continued modernization of such critical facilities.
Dr. Amr Rachid, Head of the Egyptian Ambulance Authority, explained that the vessel was designed and built entirely in Egypt, by Egyptian expertise, in accordance with international medical and maritime specifications. It is intended to serve beachgoers, visitors to ports, marinas, and yachting areas, while also being equipped to respond to emergencies involving passenger ships, commercial vessels transiting Egyptian territorial waters, and floating oil platforms. With this boat, the Egyptian Ambulance Authority now operates across land, river, and sea, ensuring that this vital public service can reach those in need wherever they are.
The marine ambulance boat is 13 meters long and 4 meters wide, with a capacity to transport up to four patients or injured individuals in addition to the medical and navigation crew. It is powered by three engines that enable it to reach speeds of 35 knots, a performance level tailored to its critical emergency response role. The vessel is outfitted with modern navigation and marine safety systems, along with comprehensive medical equipment essential for rescue operations, including oxygen supplies, vital signs monitors, mechanical ventilators, gear for patient extraction and immobilization from water or other vessels, and a full range of emergency medications. It is manned by a highly trained medical and navigation team, capable of responding effectively to a wide range of emergency situations.
This achievement by Alexandria Shipyard is part of a broader, ambitious strategy to diversify the types of vessels and launches built domestically, aiming to achieve self-sufficiency in meeting Egypt’s maritime needs while expanding the company’s capacity to compete in international shipbuilding markets.
