all Workshops Inclined Berth Dry Docks Machinery space of the water tractor tug where 2 main engines driving & Voith Schneider propellers via intermediate shaft and hydraulic coupling Water tractor tug boat whilst the block of the machinery space & Voith Schneider propellers are laid down on the keel blocks of the northern berth The first River Cargo barge during the sea trial whilst verifying the tactical diameter and maneuvering capabilities The Southern berth during the launching ceremony of the water tractor tug for the port of Alexandria Vessel Aida of Arab Maritime Academy AAST had undergone thorough underwater cleaning in the eastern dry dock & repainted Cargo ship named Alex was docked in the western (smaller) dry dock for the purpose of effecting the routine maintenance of both hull & machinery Overhead gantry crane of 300 tons SWL and 2 other 90 tons SWL each serving the assembly & welding works of mega-blocks on the flat area (pre-berth area) & the mounting joints of the various ships blocks on the southern building berth Northern berth whilst the pair of sliding ways for launching are undergoing routine maintenance. southern berth is shown after being widened and lengthened to accommodate larger size of vessels Volumetric blocks up to 120 tons are assembled out of the sections supplied by unit assembly and welding shop using the various types of mechanized and /or manual process of welding as appropriate Hull Workshops – Workshop 1 where steel plates are cut using the latest plasma cutting machines & then after to be further transferred for marking & shaping Flatbed cars loading up to 120 tons for transporting of large blocks within the shipyard various shops during construction viz. from block shop to blasting & painting shop and next to building berth Hydraulic powerful press of 400 tons capacity to bring plating to the required shape, bending rollers & edge bending guillotine type bending machine, all participating in the fulfillment of the processing phase of the ship’s plating and profiles Automatic submerged arc welding of the various thicknesses and variety of flat plating different steel types to form panels of huge areas, then to be inward transmitted for fitting & welding of various stiffening mesh .
